Proposed Draft #1

Dear Secretary Burgess/ Commissioner Rhodes,

I am a resident and property owner in (INSERT TOWN NAME) and wish to express my serious concerns about the Canisteo Wind Energy Center project being proposed for the towns of Cameron, Canisteo, Jasper, Greenwood, Troupsburg, and West Union.*

I am disturbed and upset that Invenergy, an out-of-state developer, has decided to destroy our peaceful rural countryside and put local residents at risk as they pursue their own short-sighted financial gain and interests.

The impacts of an industrial-scale wind project of this scope are clear: significant noise and health-related issues, shadow flicker effects, electromagnetic interference issues with communication, falling property values, risks to birds and bats, damage to local roads, and the aesthetic impact of 90 to 140 turbine towers looming over the landscape at more than 550 feet.

Locally drafted ordinances with minimal setbacks and sound pressure requirements will not protect our families and community from the near constant onslaught of noise and shadow flicker that will degrade our lives, impair our sleep, and ruin our health.

The Canisteo Wind Energy Project does not appear to be good for anyone except the developer and their investors... people who will not have to live with the impact of their decision to destroy our rural environment.

Sincerely,

ADD NAME

Proposed Draft #2

Dear Secretary Burgess/ Commissioner Rhodes,

I am a resident and property owner in (INSERT TOWN NAME) and wish to let you know of my concerns and opposition to the Canisteo Wind Energy Center project being proposed for the towns of Cameron, Canisteo, Jasper, Greenwood, Troupsburg, and West Union.*

In addition to the well-documented negative impacts of these industrial-scale wind projects on the health of local residents and wildlife, I am especially troubled by how adjacent landowner property values are likely to fall. For most people, our homes and real estate represent the single largest investment we will ever make. Invenergy's claim that property values are not affected is not supported by published research studies and common sense... who is going to buy a home within 5000 feet of an enormous 600-foot-tall rotating turbine tower that produces noise and quality of life issues 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for the next 20 plus years? Does Invenergy really believe that potential buyers would view this as positive selling attribute?

Property values will be decreased forever. The financial impact of this project on adjacent landowners and residents will not be offset by the incentives offered by the company to the towns.

The Canisteo Wind Energy Project does not appear to be good for anyone except the developer and their investors... individuals who will not have to live with the impact of their decision to destroy our rural environment and home values. I respectfully ask the State Siting Board to reject Invenergy's proposed development of the Canisteo Wind Energy Center.

Sincerely,

Proposed Draft #3

Dear Secretary Burgess/ Commissioner Rhodes,

I am a property owner in (INSERT TOWN NAME) and want to express my strong opposition to the proposed Canisteo Wind Energy Center.* The destructive and irreversible impact of constructing a large-scale industrial wind complex on our rural community is something that makes neither economic nor environmental sense.

Non-stop sound emissions and associated health risks to local residents, impact on wildlife, decreased property values, and the negative consequences of littering our beautiful ridges and hills with almost 150 metal and fiberglass structures each towering almost 600 feet above the ground are outcomes that are not at all consistent with the rural nature of western Steuben County.

I respectfully request that the State Siting Board reject Invenergy's proposed development of the Canisteo Wind Energy Center.

Sincerely,

Proposed Draft #4

Dear Secretary Burgess/ Commissioner Rhodes,

I live and own property in (INSERT TOWN NAME) and I am writing to show my opposition to the Canisteo Wind Energy Center.* As I look out my kitchen window and look at the beautiful hills and valleys that surround my home, I struggle to comprehend the devastating impact of installing almost 150 wind turbines on (INSERT TOWN NAME) and the surrounding communities.

I'm concerned about the damage introduced by huge transport and construction equipment on our country roads and lanes. I'm worried about the negative health impacts caused by these non-stop industrial noise generators on my family and neighbors. I'm troubled by the effects these wind turbines will have on our local bird and bat populations and our wildlife in general. I'm alarmed by how our property values will be adversely and measurably impacted by the close proximity of industrial-scale wind turbines to our homes.

It's clear from reading Invenergy's propaganda and listening to their story that they care little for the turmoil and destructive impact that their project will cause for our families, our economy, our homes, our environment, and our way of life.

I would ask the State Siting Board to please consider the damages and impact brought about by this proposed project and deny Invenergy's efforts to destroy our rural community.

There will never be enough financial return to justify the destruction of the beautiful view from my kitchen window.

Sincerely,

ADD NAME
